# Swap and Trade in Jupiter Wallet

> Swap in Jupiter Wallet through Jupiter Ultra with MEV protection and gasless execution, place limit and recurring orders, and enable Auto-Approve.

## Swapping tokens

Open the wallet and select **Swap**. In the **Market** tab, choose the token you are **Selling** and the one you are **Buying**, and enter the amount (**Half** and **Max** fill it from your balance). The rate line below can be expanded for details. Select **Swap** to execute.

Above the action bar, a card for each token of the pair shows its price, 24-hour change, and a copy icon for its mint address. Click a card to open the token page; going back restores the pair, the amount, and the mode (in the Limit and Recurring tabs, the trigger price, expiry, and schedule reset after that round trip).

> [!NOTE]
>
> Transactions execute immediately on confirmation; there is no separate review page. The one exception is a swap whose price impact is -50% or worse: a **Severe Price Impact** confirmation opens first, and **Swap anyway** only becomes available after one second.

## Jupiter Ultra routing and MEV protection

Swaps in Jupiter Wallet are powered by [Jupiter Ultra](https://docs.jup.ag/user-docs/trade/spot/ultra-mode.md), the same execution engine as jup.ag. Ultra routes each swap across Solana liquidity for the best available price, and its transaction landing engine provides faster confirmations with built-in **MEV protection**: private, MEV-resistant execution (MEV, Maximal Extractable Value, covers sandwich attacks and similar manipulation of pending transactions). Ultra also handles gasless execution when you hold no SOL (see below).

The trading fee depends on the pair, from 0% to 0.5%. See [Jupiter Wallet Fees](https://docs.jup.ag/user-docs/manage/extension-wallet/fees.md).

***

> [!NOTE]
>
> Swaps and sends made from the wallet can use Solana's **v1 transaction format**, the larger format live on mainnet since September 2026. Nothing changes on your side: the wallet picks the format the transaction needs, and earlier formats keep working.

## Gasless swaps

Gasless execution activates only when you don't have enough SOL to cover gas costs (signature fees, priority fees, rent). It is not a default mode.

There is no extra fee for gasless. Jupiter pays the network fees on your behalf and increases the swap fee by the equivalent value, so you receive slightly fewer output tokens. Because that amount is fixed per transaction (not proportional to trade size), it weighs less on larger swaps, and gasless is only offered when it stays within 10% of the trade. In practice, gasless kicks in when you hold less than 0.01 SOL, the trade is at least about \$10 (adjusted with network conditions), and the token you sell is [verified](https://docs.jup.ag/user-docs/launch/vrfd.md).

> [!TIP]
>
> Gasless is primarily useful when starting out: for example, receiving USDC into a new wallet and swapping without needing to acquire SOL first. When possible, holding a small SOL balance for gas will result in lower fees than relying on gasless execution.

## Limit and recurring orders

The swap panel has three tabs: **Market** (instant swap), **Limit**, and **Recurring**.

* **Limit**: place an order that executes when the token reaches your target. Choose the amount to **Allocate** and the token **To Buy**, then set the trigger as a **Price** or a market cap (**MCap** toggle), either by typing a value or with the percentage presets relative to the current market price (for example -10% or -20%, or a custom percentage). **Expiry** offers 10 minutes, 1 hour, 1 day, 3 days, 7 days (the default), or 30 days. The **Order type** selector offers the same [order types](https://docs.jup.ag/user-docs/trade/spot/limit-orders.md#order-types) as the web app: **Limit**, **One Cancels Other (OCO)**, **Limit Buy + OCO (OTOCO)**, and **Trailing Stop Loss**.
* **Recurring**: split the amount you are **Spending** into several orders executed on a schedule. In **Schedule**, set the number of orders and the period they run over (minutes, hours, days, weeks, or months); the **Receiving** field shows the estimated amount per order. Select **Start Recurring**. See [Recurring orders](https://docs.jup.ag/user-docs/trade/spot/recurring-orders.md).

Limit and recurring orders are never gasless: they need SOL for network fees. With less than 0.01 SOL in the wallet, the Limit and Recurring forms show a warning recommending at least 0.01 SOL.

### Managing your orders

The **clock icon** (top right of the swap panel) opens **Your Orders**, with a tab each for **Limit** and **Recurring**. Each order shows its status, fill progress, trigger, and expiry, and can be cancelled from there.

Opening an order shows its full details (order type, trigger, slippage, fill, creation and expiry dates, order ID). **Edit** lets you change a pending limit order's trigger price and slippage in place, without cancelling and recreating it.

## Auto-Approve

For one-click trading on Jupiter, [Meteora](https://meteora.ag/) and Orb, Jupiter Wallet can sign transactions on those sites without a confirmation prompt. It is on by default for Jupiter and off for Meteora and Orb, toggled per site under **Settings** → **Preferences** → **Auto Approve**, where you can also set a spending limit. See [Auto-Approve in Settings](https://docs.jup.ag/user-docs/manage/extension-wallet/settings.md#auto-approve) for the details and the trade-offs.
